John Godfrey

John Godfrey is a consultant and trainer. His specialties are major gift fundraising, capital campaigns and business partnerships.

John has worked both in Australia and the United Kingdom as a fundraiser.  This included seven years as Business & Corporate Affairs Manager of the Sydney Festival and three years as Development Director of the Edinburgh International Festival.  In London he was one of the founders of an HIV/Aids charity and was General Manager of the Open Air Theatre.  Subsequently he managed a £20M capital fundraising programme for Edinburgh University followed by a £5M capital fundraising programme for Napier University, Edinburgh. 

In 2004 he completed a research dissertation on business partnerships with the arts in the UK.   He has trained and provided consultancy to organizations in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Asia.  His qualifications include a BA in opera studies, an MSc in Business Administration and a Graduate Diploma in Arts Administration.  He trained as an actor at the New Zealand Drama School.
